The first sequence is the original, although it can be quite challenging, specially for first timers, or clients with restricted flexibility, mobility issues. While the this sequence is the original, in real life I find that most people opt for the other sequence, since it is more comfortable and less taxing on the joints, tendons and ligaments. 

The first sequence begins with the Yab-Yum position, a tight embrace pubis to pubis. The Yab-Yum position consists of sitting facing me, cross-legged, or in a lotus position at one end of the futon or tatami. Most likely it is the first time that you hear about Yab-Yum. If you type Yab-yum on google and click in images, you will be able to see the position clearly. It is also known as Shatki & Shiva, although we will be doing Shiva & Shiva, since we are both males! 

You will seat between my thighs, and wrap your legs around my hips, but without crossing ankles. Our bodies will be connected by the lower abdomen. I will begin with holding you in my arms in a gentle rocking motion. This reciprocal tenderness  will open the heart chakra. Once our hearts are open, I will pour a high quality oil in my hands and will start to oil your back, from bottom to top, causing the sensual energy rise from the sacred to the neck. Once the back and neck are massaged in the Yab-Yum seating position, it is time for you to lay on your back with open legs, with your hip bone at my knee level. I will massage all the front of your body including intimate areas, from this position. After that I will turn you over and we repeat the previous position, but this time facing down, and I will be massaging the whole back of your body from this single position.  For clients with restricted range of movement , or that simply aren't comfortable with this first more challenging positions both psychologically and physically, there is a more comfortable option, where you skip the bow, looking at each others eyes, the undressing ritual, and the Yab-Yum seating position. This simpler but not less exciting sequence, involves totally different positions, but as I mentioned previously, they keep the pelvis-to-pelvis contact during the whole session, and even with an exciting advantage which is, the simpler sequence offers a pelvis to buttocks position, which in my experience it's almost always more exciting for the receiver.

Professional masseurs will more often adopt this simpler succession rather than beginning with the Yab-Yum, while the traditional sequence is usually shared between partners or trained Tantrikas.
